The only problem with your model is that it doesn't explain how southern Argentina is able to make the exact same observation of the sun six months later on January 21st.
The sun isn't traveling a circular path. That is how we talk about it from our point of view. Actually the rotation of the earth on the north south axis gives the motion we see.
all you have to do is look at a half moon to see that is traveling at an perpendicular arc to our location, it's perspective also never changes, which is impossible to explain with the flat ear model.
The sun does not travel a circular path above us. June 22 to25 it travels a circular path around the north pole, which is pointing in the sun's direction.
I bet what would be even more mind blowing for this guy is to know that the sun does the exact same thing in southern argentina exactly six months later.
