If half the Earth is always lit by the Sun you would expect that the entire horizon left to right should remain equally lit simultaneously including the clouds a phenomenon known as the Terminator Line but that’s not what we observe in real life. Local Sun, local light!

Also if the sun so far away why doesn't it look tiny like a star? Looks close to me.
