PIRS was connected to the unmanned service module which used its engine to put PIRS into a position of deorbit. Yes, putting on the brakes so to speak, by using the engine in the unmanned service module to slow PIRS down thus falling into earth's gravitational force in its inevitable deorbit... Nothing to see here folks you just saw the way the Russians pulled PIRS away and into the deorbiting procedure.
