Radio only works line of sight. Meaning you have to draw a direct line from a to B to receive the signal that’s why we have to put antennas on top of Mount Wilson here in California! So how does this Russian radio transmission a.k.a. radar reach all the way across the ocean to other continents? There is a phenomenon called Skip where the radio signal can bounce off the ionosphere also.
