The events of the Old Testament, the Biblical Exodus occurred in southwestern Arabia, in a province called Mizraim (H4714 - מִצְרַיִם), or Misr, a location now near modern day Yemen, not Egypt (Exodus 11:4). Ancient Egyptians never witnessed any of the stories of the Jewish patriarchs Abraham, Joseph, Moses, and that the land of the Nile valley knew neither Pharaohs nor any Israelites. However, according to the so-called Hebrew Bible, Cyrus the Great, the founder of the first Persian empire, he released Jews from Babylonian Captivity, helped the Israelites to return to Jerusalem and rebuild the temple.
