By 2001, from a desk table size to the size of a suitcase, this technology dropped both in size and weight and I'm sure you can use it for other application besides melting metal. It takes 13,800 volts of power per Tower. Step down transformers with emphasis on "Step Down" bring the voltage to useful purposes of 460v and 277v. From there they bring it down to human usefulness level of 120 v and 220v. If you take a 4/0 (12" Dia.) cable and run it clean to the top through an unoccupied elevator shaft, you can deliver some extreme power through that cable.
