What makes us think this is a recent development, and one that will increase in the future? Isn't it possible that all of known history has been effected in the same Orwellian manner?

When one picks up a handful of wet sand to then squeeze it tight in trying to keep it in one's hand all that happens is the wet sand squeezes our from any gaps in your closed hand. LinkedIn became a joke of a site ever since their first colossal security breach in 2012, followed by additional breaches in 2018 and 2021. By now well over 90% of users' information has been stolen. I never completed my "profile" there out of concern that the data could be used for identity theft. LinkedIn should go the way of MySpace.
