I don't know the science behind it, but supposedly it is a phenomenon that is well known by epidemiologists / virologists.

There is another piece of corruption in your analysis, re: the Flu being diagnosed as COVID. The CARES act encourages hospitals to document COVID cases for funding. This is also affecting what is the cause of death. A patient could be suffocated with a pillow by a deranged janitor, but will be documented as a COVID death, because that is now a revenue stream for hospitals. (CARES pays out 100% of treatment costs, while insurance and Medicare only pay a fraction of the treatment costs)
