Why does someone who has written about how captured and corrupt an entire field has become, not question and and be skeptical of other fields? It's very confusing? Maybe they're too optimistic? Maybe they still cling to the faith that parts of our society aren't hopelessly broken and entirely orchestrated & controlled?

That is because the ones being slaughtered don't want to believe that humanity is slaughtering them. And are currently in denial seeing all of the heart attacks happening. Which leads to schychotic denial, then acceptance then suicidal thoughts and depression, or as the Bible put it, "seek out death but won't find it"!

We're all slaves to the "elite" class and most of us don't even realize it. They created the monetary system to control us through debt. We work, making more profits for the higher-ups than we make ourselves, so we can have money to buy the things we need to live in this society… from the same class we work for, while paying taxes to governments that are de-facto owned by the same class. Then governments protect them & bail them out, while forcing us to literally give them our lives by; forcing us to pay tax to live in our homes; passing laws/codes/regulations/ordinances making it extremely difficult and expensive or outright illegal to produce what we need to survive ourselves in our local communities, therefor forcing us to patronize the elites. We're forced to funnel our money/value upwards, then the governments/banks create more money by tricking people to take on more debt, which we trade our lives to pay back to the exact same group creating the money and controlling what we need to survive. It's a scam to literally enslave us all.
