I was just about to start classes at Rice University. Many homes in Houston have their water pipes in the attic, so when they freeze the whole house gets destroyed.

I have been checking out reports about the wind turbines inTexas freezing up and not generating. I guess those green brains thought ice was a thing of the past.

Born in Colorado I got my drivers license in 1957 and learned to drive on the snow and ice. In 1965 I was a college student in Abilene, TC. An ice storm struck and the Texans, who had no experience driving on ice, attended many auto accidents. Homes were not insulated and thousands of frozen toilets broke, spilling contents onto floors. I easily navigated the 1/8th to 1/4th inch ice coating but my biggest fear was being hit by some Texan driving like it was summer and sliding into me. Back then tire chains and winter tires that had steel studs in them to improve traction on frozen roads were legal. Now they are not because they grooved the roads after several freezing seasons.

Hi Pajama Boy. There is about a half inch of hipe, I mean, ice here in Nashville TN. This was supposed to be a thing of the past.
