There's no way to wear masks "properly", as Dr. Ted Noel demonstrated in several videos on his YouTube channel in June-July 2020. When it comes to virus particles as small as SARS-CoV2, they ALL leak badly. You might as well try stopping mosquitoes with a chain link fence.

Yeah I'd agree for the most part. Hadn't seen this particular doctor you speak of but it's logical to come to these conclusions regardless of whether the mandate is a good idea, or perhaps even a bad one. I suppose if I were being impartial I'll say the virus particles themselves are undoubtedly smaller than any material mask could block but I'm presuming the principle is based on those virus particles contained and transported within droplets which they would stop, to an extent. Regardless, the whole debate is mute seeing as they're simply not practical to wear on a daily basis, for those specific reasons of contamination in general. I'll check out this Ted Noel though, I'm presuming his stance on much of this whole discussion is based on real science and the scientific method, not the wokerati's so-called "soyience".

Where mask mandates were put into place, sometimes cases went up, sometimes they went down - indeed, sometimes both, since there have been multiple peaks in case numbers! This should not be possible if face diapers work to stop the spread.

Hmmm. Have you actually studied the DATA? If you look at charts and time of imposition of mask mandates, you'll see there is zero effect of the mandate. Zero. Virus is gonna virus. Note the recently decreasing deaths rate independent of any double-masking. What the case rate actually has been showing us is the increasing number of tests being given (not the mention the ridiculous 42-44 cycle PCR testing being done). Why would China do anal swabs if the virus is actually only airborne? Why bother to disinfect surfaces? Fauci's Spanish Flu study done back in the 70's showed that the people were dying of mask-induced pneumonia!

I think some people do not understand the difference between being infected, and having the resulting (sometimes) disease. If you receive a smaller inoculum/dose of a virus rather than an enormous one all at once, your bodies immune system has more time to respond by developing antibodies & T-Cells to destroy that particular virus. That's why you have a better chance of having mild or no symptoms if you receive a tiny dose. Your body has time to fight it off before your systems get overrun (getting the disease).

One explanation of why the masks may be having a smaller affect on COVID than on the flu and other ILIs/colds, is if it is spreading much easier on small aerosolized particles. That would explain the contradictory arguments of: "the flu barely exists this season because people are wearing masks" & "COVID is out of control because people aren't wearing masks". Maybe the amount of people wearing masks (even in non-mandated areas) bring the R-0 rate of influenza, which is mostly spread by large droplets, way below 1, while most masks being worn don't do much at all to stop infectious Sars Cov2 aerosols.

If masks work to stop infection, why do they have no effect on the infection rate? There is literally no correlation between wearing masks and any reduction in infection. If they work, why don't they work?

The CDC has admitted that airborne transmission is possible. The droplet narrative has not been proven. Whatever particles are collected in the mask can be sucked through or blown out again. Never mind the 70% leakage. Mask mandates are correlated with a large increase in infections and deaths wherever they have been implemented. 30x more is the average.
