Teacher unions had called for a national strike on Tuesday to demand better working conditions and protest over the government's education budget. Antifa groups reportedly attacked members of La Cocarde who had joined the student march in central Paris to show support for the teachers. The two sets of groups were seen exchanging blows and chasing each other during the march. One student could be seen with a bloody nose and another with a bleeding head injury. "They nicked me, I ran, one caught me and another put me down and then I got hit on the floor," said one injured member of La Cocarde. "Several of our activists were injured, including three who were treated by the emergency services, during a confrontation where 'antifa' had to come back with equipment to get their way," read a Twitter statement from the student union.
