My Dad and I originally began building this particular homemade moped from a Craftsman Trimmer engine and a Huffy Bicycle back in 2004. It was originally a lesson and demonstration he designed to teach me about how a clutch mechanism generally works and a rough analog of the rat bike my great grandpa built in the 1930’s with a hit and Miss engine to get around before he managed to afford the family’s first ever automobile, a Ford model A, which remains have irreversibly decayed into a pile of rust at the end of the yard in the bushes. This particular homemade moped we built mostly neglected for years when he completed it, in the barn except for when I visited my dad in 2009. Since this video, I rectified the belt displacement and other little things. Still has a few bugs to smooth out once I can afford the time and hardware to fully integrate the new carburetor I installed. Also, I intend to include two led headlights, and front and rear turn signals, and brake lights in the near foreseeable future to complete it’s build, fully.
