To put a rocket into orbit you do not launch it straight up where it must fight the hard pull of gravity. You launch it and send it down range into an orbital pattern. The rocket essentially eases its way into earth orbit. This is akin to an airliner taking off. You don't send an airliner into a steep climb till it reaches its assigned ceiling. That would take too much energy and fuel. It would be uncomfortable for the passengers too. Not even high performance fighter jet take off into a steep vertical climb until it reaches its ceiling. Even though any modern fighter jet could take off and reach a high speed to then pitch up and climb vertically upto it's service ceiling which for most combat jets is about 50,000 ft. But fighter pilots don't do this for it burns too much fuel for no reason. A fighter pilot will climb to his assigned flight season in an efficient curve as he flies down range. But why am I wasting my time here.
