A big mistake - Congress only declared war on Japan. Admiral King didn't want to fight for the British. Japan NEVER declared war on the USSR. Germany still had an undefeated Britain and USSR to contend with. Victory was STILL possible until FDR got what he wanted and concentrated American production on defeating Germany. I know that FDR had been doing everything that he could to provoke the Germans, but Hitler had always refused to take the bait before.
