Yes it is a Trump appointment. As a Canadian educated in earth science I recall discussing with my grandfather, an engineer who served in the British Navy in the WW2, the topic of global warming. We both agreed that there was no scientific justification for the fearmongering associated with the anthropogenic global warming (AGW) hypothesis. However, he found it offensive and I, still young and naïve, tended to look on the bright side and thought that perhaps good technological innovations would result from the government hype. Fast forward 20 years and this government science has invaded our children's education. I'm not religious but I'm preying that Trump wins a second term and can effectively clean up NOAA and NASA as they are arguable the most influential organizations in this government propagated nonsense. In my own cold country we continue to shoot ourselves in the feet worrying about warming when we need to be concentrating on having reliable power for the real killer...COLD. Thank-you for all of your work Tony. It's some of the most important information of our time.
