I believe that the modern press was co-opted by various factions and ideologies to manipulate the populace. Most news agencies do not have a comment section and specifically refuse to engage with good faith argument or acknowledge evidence contrary to their 'narrative'. Then the press wonders when their credibility is questionable. Certainly they are not that unintelligent. Even the Soviet propaganda machine determined if it was not at least 80%+ reliable, nothing was accepted without secondary and tertiary verification.
