Software engineer - 30+ years - and this is complete nonsense. There is little complex about what Twitter allegedly does as he describes it. A truly "blind" platform can evaluate what needs to trend, or get amplified, etc., is a pretty easy task, actually.

AI is essentially complex correlation. That is comparing a pattern with what that pattern is expected to be. Either the template is pre-defined or it is synthesised through so-called machine learning. However, there does not appear to be any over-arching mathematical theory which covers the stability or robustness of this approach, it amounts to hacking, which will always attract funds because of the sponsors are impressed by the grandiose claims made, rather than any understanding of what is actually coded. The tendency to censor conservative views may well be due to an inherent instability in the process, rather than any nefarious objective. That will not be known because there is no mathematical formulation of the process, merely blind faith in its infallibility. AI is to systems theory as astrology is to astronomy. Kepler only got funding from the sponsors of the time because he claimed he could make better horoscopes. Grandiose claims will always win over dry but sound science, when it comes to attracting funds from the technically ignorant.

This is what Jack Dorsey looks like when he's lying.
