Any attempt by establishment "health authorities" or medical organizations to quantify the number of Covid "cases" or "infections" is impossible in light of the fact that a "positive PCR test" does not equal a “COVID-19 case.” https://www.jeremyrhammond.com/2020/11/19/facebook-fact-check-lies-about-pcr-tests-and-covid-19-cases/

Just to be clear -- It is IMPOSSIBLE for any gov't or establishment "medical agency" to accurately quantify the # of "covid cases" or "covid infections" because a "positive PCT test" does not medically confirm a "CV-19 case."

I am still amused that people think that masks stop or even slow the spread of Covid19. The medical science does not support you. Only the political science does.

Predictions wanted: Will South Dakota experience a new peak of sars-cov-2 infections in March going into April?
FleaMagnet
They might, right along with the states around them. The point you are missing is that South the coders numbers will be the same if not better than the states around it, but this will be accomplished without destroying the economy or taking away peoples freedoms.

@FleaMagnet Go to this site http://91-divoc.com/pages/covid-visualization/, scroll down to "Confirmed COVID-19 Cases by States/Territories, normalized by population" Under Highlight choose South Dakota, under Show choose Top 25, and for Data choose Total Confirmed Cases. The Dakotas are the worse in the USA. So, we'll see what happens in a month and a half.

@notmev I appreciate that you direct us to the facts. People are often lazy to check out the facts. However, while at it, change the 'Total confirmed cases' to 'Deaths'. You will see that South Dakota is in the middle. And their infection rates (cases) have been going down since mid-November. So, no, data do not confirm they have done so badly by keeping things unrestricted. What happens in the future, no one knows, but it is somewhat unlikely that there will be a large virus resurgence in the spring. I would worry more about a resurgence in the locked-down states. Because they may have less herd immunity.
FleaMagnet

For a computer nerd your terminology is vague. The Dakotas? I thought we were talking about South Dakota. Also, has the name of the virus been changed again? It was Covid19. Is that name suddenly offensive to someone somewhere? I can’t help wondering how adjusted these graphs are.
notmev
@FleaMagnet: "The Dakotas?" That is a very common american phrase that refers to North and South Dakota together. What country are you in? Also this is the data from the South Dakota republican government, https://doh.sd.gov/COVID/Dashboard.aspx, it matches.

@GodsArmpit Nice comment, just "No". Come on, pull your head out of the ground, and put a prediction to your beliefs in front of everyone.

@martin7s Thanks for your prediction. South Dakota is not in the middle of the pack. They have the seventh highest death rate when normalized to their population. We could argue forever why I think the other states are higher than SD, but not now. I believe that the new variants will cause another peak in a month to a month and a half. SD has fully vaccinated 10% of their population, 21% have gotten at least one shot, another 12% have had the disease. They are doing really well, but not fast enough to get to herd immunity before the variants take hold. Just my prediction, which I do hope is wrong for all states. This shows each state's vaccine status: https://www.bloomberg.com/graphics/covid-vaccine-tracker-global-distribution/

That is true. However we are talking South Dakota it is like saying Charlotte is located in the Carolinas. Try traveling there with that info.

@FleaMagnet I'm being pendantic. Coronaviruses are a group of related RNA viruses that cause diseases in mammals and birds. SARS-COV-2 is an example of a coronavirus. Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) is a contagious disease caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2).

A few, or more than a few, months ago, when I had heard that South Dakota had NO lockdowns, facial-jock-strap mandates, NO NOTHING, and that South Dakota was always open for business, I considered moving to South Dakota (I currently live in North Dakota). But I decided against it, because that would be a bit too rash, even for me. The governor of South Dakota seems to be a good person.

My aunt was on vacation in a group of 60 pensioners. 48 of them showed symptoms, the eldest being 94. None died.

You didn't check to carefully to see all the changes implemented in Sweden in the last couple months to combat the spread of sars-cov-2. True, they did not lockdown, but you seem to be missing all that they did and how they changed when the case numbers went up. Try again.

Brennan is a skilled propagandist: ask a question, then one sentence into the response interrupt forcefully and try to fluster the person you're interviewing into saying something you can take out of context later to make them seem like a monster.

So obvious that the media is ridiculously biased and in favor of the DEMONRATS. Ms. Noem is so smart, articulate and full of common sense, she surely will be treated poorly by the democrat controlled media. They want the narrative followed...She doesn't follow and that is not acceptable for this Covid/Government control drill for the sheep.

Two weeks to flatten the curve. The BIGGEST mistake Trump ever made. Maybe by Easter was next which would have been another 2-3 weeks. Now it is going on a year. I have always wondered just how stupid and gullible people are. Now I know. They are so accepting of bullshit they will actually give up their freedoms for the sake of a LIE! Vaccines that are untested. Cities that are ghost towns. Mandated masks all over the place. Governments are out of control. Canada has collapsed. Britain, too. China is laughing its collective asses off. Mankind has become an endangered species.......by their own hand!
jrbleau

The "two weeks to flatten the curve" never made sense. So two weeks later, we pick up where we left off? It was clear that this would be extended indefinitely.
notmev

@Mikeyh0 "Canada has collapsed" I missed that, what collapse happened in Canada?
Nik Monk
@notmev - Canada may not have collapsed quite yet, but our federal debt is currently $1,071,182,500,700.00. That’s ‘just’ Cnd. dollars, but one trillion in debt is an awful lot for a country with only about 35 million people. So the future looks bleak to me.
